Godinger 48882 Harper 9 Cake Plate

I ordered 13' which was really beautiful, this one is too small.

If the top of this cake stand was level I would have given it 5 stars. It's off kilter by 5/16th of an inch. I would return it but I didn't want to run the risk of receiving a broken one and having to return that too. It is exactly what I was looking for (with the exception of the crooked top). I figured I'd turn the high side forward when on display.

I have had a very servicable glass cake plate and dome for years, but decided I wanted something prettier both for parties and family use. I bought this based on a combination of looks and price. When I received it, it was not exactly what I was looking for. However, I felt that it was a good buy for the price. Here are some of my observations:<br /><br />1. This is advertised as being crystal. However, it is what we used to refer to as &#34;pressed glass.&#34; It is pretty enough given that the design side needs to be on the underside of the plate no matter what. However, if you are looking for real (but inexpensive) cut crystal as I was, you probably want to keep looking.<br /><br />2. The stand has no cover. Although I knew this when I ordered it, I thought it would be easy to buy an inexpensive clear plastic cake dome and be happy. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find one that would fit - or at least fit without costing more than the cake plate cost me in the first place.<br /><br />My recommendation is to carefully consider your use and needs before purchasing this. Cost for this item should probably not be the deciding factor.<br />As I write this, I have not decided whether to keep or return this item. It is not awful. However, it really is not particularly good, either.
