I have two 87V meters. One of which I have owned for about 15 years. I am an industrial electrician. I got this meter and used it of 10 years woking in the oilfield offshore. The work is very intense and demanding of excellent quality tools. I never loaned my meter to other technicians and I took excellent care of them since my life literally depended on its accuracy and performance. I've used this meter on systems from 24 volts DC to 600 volts AC three phase and everything in between. I've got a thousand dollar bluetooth F;uke that my company issued me about 4 years ago but I trust my 87V more. It hasn't let me down in almost 15 years and I am still kicking.

As a BioMed tech, this meter gives me everything I need to service medical equipment. Easy to use and measures the outputs needed and has great response time.

I wasn't sure about spending this much on a meter, I am not a professional electrician but I do a lot of electrical and electronic troubleshooting at work. When my last generic meter died I decided I would spend the money and get something that hopefully will last. Hopefully it will. The test leads are the niceest I've ever used, super flexible and no silly little cat IV caps to lose since they just twist to expose the whole lead. For this price it would be nice if fluke included some kind of case though. My $50.00 klein clamp meter even included one. I also like the screw on alligator clips, I've used a set of push on clips in the past and eventually they just slip off too easily, I think these will be a nice upgrade. Overall I think this was a good purchase, a bit overkill for my purpose but if it lasts as long as my last fluke it will be worth it.Also, like the title says, it is still made in the US.

Replacement for my old 87 meter, as apparently Fluke considers 20 years the end of their lifetime warranty and won't service it anymore. So hopefully I'll see 20 years of service out of this 87V.

The best multimeter you can buy in a sturdy package for people with fumble fingers like me. I love this thing if you can't tell. I'm just a homebody who does a lot of work around the house and this thing is great for homeowners, everything you need and nothing you don't. I've never once used this thing and thought oh that can't be right like I usually do with the cheaply made multimeters.Yes, it's bulky, and if I had to schlep it around a job site all day with it, I might not be too happy. But for me, working out of my garage, the bulk doesn't matter.

I have never wanted to give a one start review but if you want to pay $500 and get a defective one, so go ahead. There is no Quality control and no Customer Support from Fluke. I bought a brand new and got defective one. I contacted fluke and received no respond from them. Fluke may be good or bad but there is no QC and CS for sure. Buy Fluke at your own risk. This is a caution.

Great investment if you use a DMM daily and want a professional tool, not a cheap meter you stake your life on.

As always, the fluke 87 sets the standard for all other multi-meters to compared to. If you want a good solid meter, accurate, sturdy, industry standard, this is the one you want.

Replacing a Fluke 87III meter. The 87V Max has more features. Great test leads and is built for heavy duty use.

I really like this multimeter. I don't suggest paying more for the max model if you are just going to use it for the bench. It is a little more cumbersome to change the batteries. If you remove the batteries to avoid leakage then it can get to be a real pain. It uses three AA batteries and these are prone to leakage more than a nine volt that most other multimeters use.
