EVEREST 8045D Hiking Pack

Bought several of these for a family car camping trip with the kiddos who just left the house. Basic performance backpack with a large cavity, durable design with extra compartments for storage. The kids were able to store all that was needed for the camping trip.<br /><br />Like the large capacity and outside pockets for more storage Like the various colors available.<br /><br />Poor shoulder padding if you weigh your pack more than 35lbs.,Waist pads built with thin cushions - your waist in meant to carry a majority of the pack weight with less stress on your shoulders - so if you plan on putting some weight in this pack and hiking I don't recommend it.<br /><br />Again this is a good pack for the RIGHT USAGE -<br /><br />Entry level pack-<br />Car Camping - you can pack this bag up and march it to your campsite up to 100-200 yards away.<br />Primitive Camping - not recommended due to the light construction of the should and hip pads.<br /><br />My experience - former Assistant Scout Master / over a dozen primitive 2-3 days camps / five years of car camping with scouts

Holds a good amount, but the weight distribution leaves a lot of the weight on the shoulders and the lack of a frame doesn't help in that respect either. As long as you keep the weight reasonable and/or don't use it for long hikes, it's a pretty decent pack.

It is a good bag with lots of pockets and straps. My only real issue is with the zippers. I've had to fix mine several times and they are beginning to wear out entirely. Given the price, I didn't expect the bag to be super rugged but I did expect it to work ok for road trips, long weekends, etc. You get what you pay for and all things considered, it's not bad.

Love the pack itself large main compartment fit my sleeping bag, synthetic blanket pillow and and have room my coleman propane tank single burner stove these are generic cheap crap not high end camping gear made to be ultra light or small and clothes for weekend. one pocket held all my toiletries and again not camping sized anything full sized toothpaste toothbrush,bulk sized tums,goldbond full sized,collapsible solar lantern and a full handful of small items. the other pocket I fit hammock, tree straps, small emergency blanket tarp(the thickish solo one),tent stakes, paracord,roll of jute twine,roll of gorilla tape, four bungee cords, sharpening stone...these are what i remeber at least. seriously the side pockets are so huge by the time I got them filled I had nothing to put in my main so I put my sleeping bag in there I never have done that before always strapped that outside but this has no bottom straps or loops so just as well. The top loops work perfect for my main tarp 8x10.(well i bungeed to their straps straps to short) anyway love the pack and all i fit in it BUT the strapping was all wrong for me the chest on hit my neck and the waist one was right around my belly at thickest part. fat man here maybe why. I was able to modify it to work for me though cut of neck choker tossed it carefully cut the bottom belt right where it met the padding use lighter on cut ends on belt to seal it from unraveling. threaded through on lower part of shoulder straps and now I have upper body harness with wide straps that doesn't cut in anywhere. left the triangle of extra padding on lower part because I didn't want to cut into them and they don't hurt anything.The strap modification was an after thought I was just cutting off straps I couldn't use but pleased as punch with results.

Huge main compartment. Side pockets are also very spacious. Would be nice to have a few other smaller pockets on the pack.

So much room in this bag!! I almost wanted to see if I could fit my little cousin into it, haha
