Chauvet DJ CLP-03 Lightweight Clamp

It's my fault, but I can't seem to make this work for me. You see, my T-bar light stand has a square tube and this is probably better suited for a round tube or truss. It is made of very heavy steel and 34;should34; hold more that the 55 lbs. it's rated for. I paid a little over $3 (for 5 of them). Heck, there's at least $3 worth of metal in them! I'll keep them because something might come up that I could use them for.

I purchased two of these to go on some of inexpensive, small LED work lights that I bring around with me in the spaces I work in. I Originally wanted to get mega clamps, but decided on these instead because they don't need a wrench to be adjusted, which I thought might be a good option for just being able to toss some light up quickly. These C-Clamps do their job. They stay put on pipes and other mounting surfaces, but their design makes them frustrating in two ways: First, because the clamp Is bent in on itself a lot and it is small, you have to totally unthread the tensioning bolt to get it to slide on to the pipe, then totaly tension it to store it in a smaller space. threading the tensioning bolt in or out all the way takes a fair amount of time. When all the way out, the tensioning bolt also gets in the way of focusing the light where it needs to go. If you are mounting the light on a bigger light it wont be as easy to focus. Second, the attach point for the clamp is annoying, the combination of washers, bolts, and wing nut that chauvet picked do not serve my purpose, I ended up getting a different combination of hardware the next time I was at Home Depot. I would not use these c-clamps for theatrical lights, they work okay for mounting temporary work lights, but they would suck for theater.

Does The Job

I thought these would be sturdier, but they are not the highest quality brackets. The turning screw part has a plastic handle and I kept thinking it would break when I tightened the clamp. It does the job, but I was expecting a better construction material on the turn screw since that is the main thing you put your trust in.

Received product. Works fine except like others mentioned the bolts are too close together to attach hanging lights

These clamps get the job done. However because of where the light attaches which is so close to the tightening main hand screw it's super hard to adjust lights once they are attached to the clamp.
