Ive used the bell socket and this socket. Way better and with a flush end the socket fits perfectly on the element. I would highly recommend to anyone who does element change outs.

If you're replacing a bad element, chances are it's corroded and using that $15 shower socket style you picked up at Home Depot isn't going to work. I spent an hour and a can of WD40 to no avail with that cheap one and cut up my hand in the process. Used this with a 1/2 breaker bar and it popped out easily.

This socket is a little high in price but as advertised, the tool does fit and I can remove and install the heating element in the Suburban hot water element in my travel trailer.Though I have not tried it, this socket is supposed to fit a heating element in a home hot water heater too.

That flimsy hollow tool wasn't working for me, apparently it gets stretched out. So I ordered this tool and with the addition of my 30 inch 1/2 inch breaker bar, it loosed quickly and easily.Don't struggle with that old flimsy tool and bust your knuckles anymore, buy this one!

I'm a plumber and have read some of the reviews in here and I was worry after my purchase of this item, because i wasn't to sure if it was going to work. However, I have used it constantly and every single time it had worked perfectly. Never an Issue removing or even installing the elements. If I ever lose this item I will definitely buy it again, but next time I will purchase two. I'm very happy with it.
