Performed a fuel pump replacement on a w164 08 ml63. I purchased a generic fuel pump tool for putting the cover back on. It requires a extreme amount of force to get it to lock in place. It was first installed with the tool and felt tight. I later go to the gas station to fill up after the job, and I started having a crazy amount of fuel leaking from underneath the car. Basically the fuel pump cover was not sealed enough so the system was not pressurized properly. As a result the fuel nozzle at the gas station couldn't detect the pressure and it never turned off. There is a overfill on the gas tank that will come out the bottom of the car. I lost a couple gallons of fuel and it scared me when it first happened that it was something more serious. The other tools simply do not provide the proper pressure around to turn it properly. This tool is extremely well built and will give you the pressure on all sides. Just buy this tool if you are doing the job, I was able to secure a open box for a fraction of the cost. Looks to be much better than the OEM Mercedes tool too.
