The plastic twist pill crushers were jorrible at crushing my lunesta (i have issues swallowing). But this little pestle and mortar set worked perfectly and crushed the pill into a fine dust! Its also cute and small. Perfect!

I like the size of this, but, in my opinion the pestle should be smaller to really grind fine spices on the sides of the mortar. It's just too large and will only grind in the center.

overall happy with the product, exactly the mortar size I needed for single cup masala chai spice crushing. only reason it's 4 star is that the pestle is entirely too tiny if you actually need any kind of force. while it works well enough for softer spices, I had to grab a pestle with a full length handle that I could wrap my hand around to get proper leverage for the force I needed to apply in order to crush long pepper and other hard spices.

We love this tiny set. We use it to crush up pills for pets and kids. Makes it so much easier. Plus, it's a natural substance so we don't worry about toxins. It's better than wood because it doesn't hold what we use it for (like garlic) and it doesn't hold moisture.
