Our certified organic, non-GMO roasted carob powder is milled very fine, which makes it perfect for baking, smoothies, shakes, yogurt, hot cereals, food products. This carob powder (smells and taste similar to chocolate cocoa powder). Use in in place of cocoa powder on your cappuccino. Mix roasted carob powder, toffuti cream cheese, earth balance sticks, powdered sugar for great tasting frosting on cakes and muffins. Use 1:1 in place of chocolate or cocoa as directed in any recipe calling for carob. Our Roasted Carob Powder ranks a low 15 on the Glycemic Index so it provides a healthy option for diabetics and health conscious consumers. Back in 2000, a 76-acre parcel of land in Booborowie, South Australia, came up for sale. Michael and Jam Jolley saw it as a chance to pursue their dream of having a sustainable, organic carob orchard. So they bought the land and planted a selected variety of sweet carob trees - 6,000 total - that are now thriving with no pesticides or insecticides.
The carob pods are harvested in March and April and are taken directly to the manufacturing facility on site.

Carob is commonly used as a substitute for chocolate. It's naturally sweet, so unlike cocoa it doesn't need any additional sugar. It's also free of caffeine and methyxanthines.
Carob has been used to treat stomach problems ever since the biblical days of John the Baptist. The tannins in carob help prevent harmful bacteria growth in the intestine, and the natural sugars in carob can help treat diarrhea. It's a good source of fiber, vitamin E, Thiamin, potassium and it's full of antioxidants.
