This pump does move koi pond water without getting clogged. This leads to more backwashing, but that is easier than unclogging a pump inlet. The plastic housing is HUGE. The handle location makes no sense since you pull this off the bottom by the cord and hose. The housing stores rotting waste which spills out as you lift it out of the pond. Yuck.This pump did save my pond one day. I was watering plants with backwash and walked away all day. Because this pump sits 6 inches from the bottom my koi survived. The pump was running dry for hours. No problems with it.
