Very fragile once used. Also have gotten very expensive but it worked well. I bought 2 Aladdin lamps for emergency lighting. Kids moved my lamp and the mantle disintegrated they also broke the globe. Parts are very expensive I probably will not replace parts. I still have one whole lamp and one regular kerosene lamp. The Aladdin lamp is brighter by far but your eyes adjust to less light

My Aladdin lamps burn very bright and hot. These mantles are very fragile so you have to be careful with them. I have not ever tried to find off brand mantles.

Great mantle. Glad they are still being made. Brought my model 23 back to life. Follow all directions from unpacking it correctly and burning it off correctly and handling it properly during installation. Light your lamp correctly giving it time to warm up properly and you'll be very satisfied with the results.

I have my Great Grandfathers Aladdin Kerosene Lamp and it did not have a mantel so I found this and ordered it. Bought some Kerosene, installed the mantel and watch a YouTube video on the procedures for the lamp and fired it up. The mantel works great, puts out some light and a lot of heat. I actually used it every morning this winter to heat up my office.

I have collection of 20 lamps. These don't seem to handle the heat even with trimmed or new wicks and clear fresh lamp oil. They blacken up and clog until you turn it back to 1/2 flame. I miss the ones from Brazil that had a harmless tinge of radioactivity and lasted twice as long.............

Have hardly used it ,coming apart, not as bright as the old ones...would get at least a year out of the old stile

If you have circular wick oil lamps this is a must! You can change weak smokey orange light (from the flame) to 40-60 watt bright white light.

Put it on, lit it up to char it. That turned on the lamp. Works great, really bright glow. I just have to handle the lamp carefully to not damage this one like I did the last one.
