So, we began to set this up the night we received it. Took a while to get all the pieces punched out and clipped onto the board but it wasn't that big of a deal. We decided to play it the following night as it was getting pretty late and we know Clue can be a long game... We have a 7yo who is obsessed with HP and an 11yo who also loves HP. I was a little concerned our 7yo would struggle with game play, as she can't read some of the big words used but she did alright! Note: That was after about an hour of reading the instructions and trying just to set it up for game play (jk, kinda!) ... It was a bit difficult to understand exactly what we were doing (we read the instructions constantly while playing) and honestly super complicated the first time played but after a few rounds I think we will be able to play it with more ease. That said, the game construction itself is quality, graphics are wonderful, the concept behind the Dark Cards, help carda and the dice rolls is really fun (you can really get into feeling like a character in the castle if you let your imagination run) but there's still a few things we're confused about that aren't really solidly explained in the instructions. What are the all black (both sides) cards for? We didn't see a purpose in the instructions so we felt like we were maybe playing it wrong in some way. I reread the entire instruction sheet through 3 times thinking maybe I missed it somewhere?! (I didn't! It doesn't mention those cards anywhere!) Other than that, it's fun for a family game night. Even dad enjoyed he's not really into HP (maybe it's because he joined up with our 7yo to help her understand how the game works and they won See their winning card they had to gloat and put on the fridge, lol). I recommend this game for HP and Clue enthusiasts!

The rest of us find it a little over-complicated, but we muddled through and had a good time.

Great gift for a young Harry Potter and Clue fan. Much like other Clue games with a twist, moving staircases, spells that need to be countered or paying with House points. Fun for the whole family.

Game box was highly damaged. Looked like it had been shoved in the corner of a storage unit for years

This game is very fun! I've played it with my family too many times to count and we've only had it a few days. All the pieces were included and very detailed. There were a few extra black cards seemingly without a purpose, but other than that, nothing out of place. The game includes character cards, rooms, items, suspects, a dark deck, a help deck, tokens for making propositions, game pieces, and three dice (two normal and one with stickers for Griffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, a star, and the Dark Mark). The instructions were generic and I had to look up a video to fully understand the game. You roll the special dice to determine which corner of the board to move toward (each corner has one of the four Hogwarts houses) and when you enter a room, you have to pull a card from the dark deck. That's where the help cards come in to fight off the dark card. Be aware of locked rooms which can only be unlocked with the Alohamora help card (there's more than one in the help deck, so multiple players can posess one and you can hold onto it for the entire game if you want). Based on the dark deck/help card you either win or lose house points. If someone loses all their house points or their help card is useless against the dark deck card, then they lose the game. All the other directions are included in the packet and are pretty comprehensive. It's just the dark deck and help cards that are poorly explained.Other than that, the game plays like normal Clue (roll the dice to move, enter a room, use the tokens when making a proposition about the mystery, and mark off the rooms, items, and suspects who are not involved. Once you mark everything off and think you know who did it, where, and with what item, you make the final proposition and check the cards in the sleeve. If you're right, you win. If wrong, you lose).

Fun game- if u played the original clue game prepare for a learning curve. My biggest complaint is its hard to read everything ( game board/cards) in brown ink on brown colors. Even my kids said the same.

This was given as a gift for my grandson's birthday. It took a little bit longer than we thought it would to get the hang of playing it; but, once we grasped the concept of how the game is played, my grandson and rest of our family enjoyed playing it.

Unfortunately the box was in rather rough shape. Since everything inside the box was in perfect condition we decided it wasn't worth trying to return. We love Harry Potter and the game Clue. Having them together is great. Perfect gift.

Under the board when trying to move the circles it is difficult to move them around.Causes the pieces to move on the board as the circles move. Difficult to snap board together. The rules can be complicated on moving from room to room.

Doesn't the original game come with the actual figurines of the characters in the game and mini pencils? This came with no pencils and colored game pieces that look like any other game...

My grandchildren and I have been enjoying playing the game out foxed. Which is sort of an easy clue game.. Even though it is for young kids even the 12 year old enjoys playing it. So I decided that with my youngest in Kindergarten and starting to read it was time for the real clue Everyone loved this one two, We played it 4 times in a row. This one is just like when I was young, except it has added some special cards that increased the fun, Things that reveal an extra card now and then. So we recommend this as a great family game with a long history of helping kids use deductive reasoning. That said, we could not give this particular game 5 stars because 8 of our clue cards came with black ink smears that made them hard to read. See photo.

My ONLY complaint is that Mrs White isn’t in this one. How dumb. If I could order again I’d find the old version. Otherwise it’s lad out the same and everything is pretty good quality.
