I notice that a number of reviews mention it being hard to pull the cable tight enough in order to prevent one loop or another from still being slipped over the end of the kayak. I recently experienced the same problem, though I did manage to make it work on my trip. Eventually, I discovered that the seller accidentally sent me the wrong model cable--which was for slimmer touring kayaks--even though in the correct (purple) bag for the model I needed, which was for recreational kayaks. So, even after you receive your cable, be sure the loop itself measures to the size advertised for your model. You might even try the larger size anyway for your touring kayak, as it would then pull a bit further up the kayak before securing it, making it impossible to slip the loops over the ends. All in all, this is a great product and design, which I highly recommend.

Just what I was looking for to keep a kayak secured to a trailer, WHEN PARKED. This is NOT enough to hold a kayak down while trailering.

A must if you leave your kayak on your vehicle unattended.

So strong that when the wind blew my kayak off the roof to the side and unhooked the ties, the lock cord was fully supporting the weight. Very study. A little hard to get over the end of the boat and pull down though for short people.

The product is sturdy and it was easy to set the combination lock. I feel better having my two kayaks safe and secure on top of my car.

I use this to lock down my Perception Carolina 14' kayak. It's a pretty good hefty lock for the price. I used to worry about leaving the kayak unattended on my car or outside my place, this cable lock gives me peace of mind

Worked great for one year for my 18' touring kayak. Today the lock is jammed. The reset mechanism works (can rotate 90 degrees to reset and back), but when the correct combo is set, the other side won't go in far enough to lock. Might order another, just frustrated that it suddenly no longer works. Update: turns out there was just enough gunk in one end of the lock to keep it from closing correctly. Took an ice pick, several Q-tips, some water, and quite a bit of effort to clean out. Don't recall dropping it or anything, but since it turned out to be user error... Bumping my rating up to 5 from 3.

An incredibly simple, yet well designed and made system that goes on and off easily while being a major deterrent to boat theft. Thanks for such a great product.

This was the second lasso I have purchased - it is an awesome product that all stores who sell kayaks should carry!!

Worked perfectly. Easy to install. Bought one for each of our two kayaks and slept better at a hotel knowing these were secured to my vehicle.

I have 2 Wilderness Systems Pungo 120's which are close to $800 each so a $100 for (2) lassos is not too bad for some insurance. There is 6 foot 8 inch of cable from the point that the lasso connect for each end. This will work to secure your kayak on the roof rack. You will have to wind the 13 feet and 4 inches around your car rack to keep someone from slipping the lassos off of the ends and stealing your kayak. When you need to secure the kayak around a tree or post you will need an additional 15 foot cable lock to keep the lassos taunt to keep them from being slipped off. A 15 foot cable is an additional $18. We like to frequent rivers and we have to leave the kayaks unguarded while we shuttle vehicles to the take out point. I have measured the loops and they are 44 inches round if that helps with the sizing.
