I got this fire pit and the box was banged up. The top insert and another piece was a little bent, but otherwise, everything else was in great shape. It seems like the packaging issue others have spoken about has been much improved. All parts were received except for a few nuts for screws to screen down the fire ring square insert. There was a Phillips screwdriver and wrench included which was handy, but if you have metric wrench sets, it would be worthwhile digging them out for this task. I (female) put this together and like others have said it is a pain. It took me a couple of hours and in some cases I had to turn the table upright, then upside down, then upright, to align pieces and insert bolts. Two people for assembly would make the job go 10x faster. There is definitely something to be said about the beauty of no assembly required. The instruction booklet was pretty good but I got tripped up by putting the inside tray that holds the tank on upside down. And, by not attaching the door to the door strip BEFORE trying to attach the doors to the frame. Otherwise, the instructions were pretty good. I hooked the fire ring up to a a 20lb tank and the pit fired right up, no problems. It was very windy here in Colorado today and I was surprised it stayed lit despite the heavy wind. It was cold, in the low 40's, so along with strong winds, it was hard to tell about the heat, but I do believe the heat will be adequate for a cool summer night, enough to take the chilly edge off, which is why I purchased this unit. The glass included with the unit is nice, but not nearly as nice as the American Fireglass Beads I purchased separately. I purchased 10 lbs and have another 10 lbs coming. I want to get a fire and ice effect so I selected the glacier ice glass beads. This glass goes well with the included icy aqua glass. I put the aqua glass on the bottom layer and the nicer glacier ice glass on top. My plan is to shop for a granite remnant table top to put on top to make the unit custom, similar to a granite unit I had my eye on that was priced over $2,000. If I can pick up a remnant table top for a few hundred dollars. the total cost will be well below the pricier unit, but probably just as nice. I would definitely recommend this unit...it's a great price value purchase....a lot of fire pit for the money.
