Ductile Pipe Swing Hanger This is a galvanized ductile iron swing hanger with a loop pendulum. These hangers are cast in two halves. The two halves of the hangers are bolted together with a 12mm carriage bolt and a hex lock tight nut. The pendulum is held to the hanger with a #12 axle bolt with a long shoulder, so the bearing does not ride on the threads. It also has a lock tight nut. This hanger fits a standard schedule 40 three inch pipe. Do not torque more than 25ft-lbs. when installing. This product should last 2 years in harsh conditions and up to 5 years in optimal conditions. Some conditions may require replacement sooner. Tensile strength is 8600 lbs. In this material we have tried to provide some requirements stated in the CPSC Handbooks, ASTM F2373-11, F1487-11 and F1148-09. However, we in no way intend for this to be a complete list of requirements. Also these publications are updated frequently with changes, therefore, you should read these publications yourself to determine if any part or installation could prove a danger to a child. To help keep children safe from harm, review installation and maintenance instructions before installing equipment. Our website also has a \"Product Testing Information\" page. All products are tested for lead, phthalates and tensile strength. Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. This hanger is made for a schedule 40 3\" I.D. pipe which is 3 1/2\" O.D. Determine spacing of swing hangers on pipe by consulting either Figure 23, Table 7 for commercial swings, or for residential sets see spacing dimensions for ASTM 1148 diagram. Mark pipe with correct spacing. Place the two halves of the hanger around the pipe. The round swinging pendulum will be facing downwards. The side bolts are placed with the heads on the top of the hanger and the threads facing downwards with the nuts on the bottom. Tighten the side bolts to touch and using no more than 25 lbs. of torque. The top and bottom hanger do not have to be flush. There can be a space between the two halves. After tightening, the threads should not be showing more than two threads past the nut, and the hanger should fit snuggly on the pipe. Grease or oil bushings if squeaking noises are heard. You will need to use S-hooks or H-shackles from the chain to the swing hangers. Make sure the S-hooks are closed to within .04 to meet ASTM safety standards. To do this you will need to use our S-hook pliers or a regular pair of channel lock pliers. Close according to Fig A1.19 for Fastening Devices. WARNING: Once the S-hooks have been opened they will have to be replaced to avoid injuries from coming open and/or breaking. If using an H-shackle the large end goes thru the swing hanger. Protective surfacing is one of the most important things that you can do to reduce the likelihood of serious injuries. The new CPSC standard states the owner/operator of the swing set needs to post warning signs outside the use zone that are readily visible to the intended viewer and alert them to the potential hazard in time to take appropriate action. This message may be on either a sign or label outside the use zone. Signs should be posted that state the appropriate age group for the swing set. Not for Adults. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand on or use unsafely. Do not allow set to be used if damaged. Remove helmets, drawstrings or accessories around the neck which are all known to create head entrapment or entanglement hazards. We used these for a porch swing, very very sturdy. Held up it's weight max capacity when the swing didn't! Swing broke, but the hardware remained. Might buy some for indoor swings as well

Bought this for a homemade porch swing I did for my in-laws. Obviously I don't want any accidents with them, so I got something sturdy and durable. Probably more than I really needed, but as it goes, “rather be safe than sorry”.

This is the second time that I have purchased these hangers. The first time, in 2019, I bought a pair and installed them for a toddler bucket swing. Excellent choice. Now I'm hanging two regular strap swings (under a Patio beam) and I purchased a set with 2 pairs of hangers. The price per pair is still less than what I paid for the one pair in 2019! Extremely strong and sturdy and can hold more weight than we'll ever put in a swing.
