Thinking outside of the box, We are using this as extra prep/storage space for outdoor grilling on the patio. It is perfect! Why? Well, I love butcher block and this did NOT disappoint. Appearance is still important and the coloring is just as pictured. The dimensions fit well. The locking, roller casters feature allows the cabinet to be mobile when needed while also giving the peace of mind that when it's stationary (with the casters locked) it is securely in place. It was tested by my crowd and PASSED. We roll it out of the elements when not using, and I have no doubt we will be using this for a lot more grilling seasons to come !Winsome Wood Drop-Leaf Kitchen Cart

Item was not too bad. Based on reviews I read I half expected the unit to have some wrong parts or be all busted up. Neither happened. The assembly was easy but you do need a second set of hands to hold stuff. There were some off colored wood putty and a few rough cuts that were not visible when assembled. Some of the wood plugs covering the screws did not hold well as they were too small for the holes. Overall it appears to be strong and for the price I think it was not too bad. I give it 4 stars because of the wood putty and rough areas which I mentioned were not visible in the final build and some of the wood plugs being loose.

I was hesitant to order after other reviews of missing pieces, mediocre instructions, etc! I tried to order this from a big box chain, but it was $50 shipping. I double checked all pieces before starting and ITS BEAUTIFUL! It solid wood except for back & side walls and drawer bottom. Its very well made and has smooth edges. The only issue I have is the drawer has nothing to stop it from pulling all the way out which could be a hazard if you have small kids. GET IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

This is a great little cart. It fits perfectly in my new kitchen. However, the directions are somewhat lacking. My husband and I have put together alot of stuff thankfully, but a few things to keep in mind. When you first start, make sure the little drawer stop faces the front. We didn't and had to add one later. Also, even though there are letters on the directions, there are none on the parts. Just take it slow and you shold be good to go. Make sure you put the two casters with breaks diagonal from each other so you can lock the cart in place. Overall, I would recomend it.

As mentioned over and over, there will likely be one broken part. Mine had the same small 'crush' seen in the user photos. I was able to glue it and it looks okay. If they know this is a common break, they should package accordingly. Also, the plywood panels are 'printed wood grain'. It's not overly noticeable, I just don't like it. T he rest in good, pretty natural wood, the plywood should be real as well.As for the complaints on assembly instructions, I found that if I made sure I inventoried and identified all the pieces before I started(there are on or two that would be easy to confuse), assembly was EASY. And they even have an inventory list and tell you to do this!Once assembled, it is a sturdy, good looking table. And the wheels are exceptionally strong. Most other tables use plastic, these are metal with bearings! I'd buy again.

So I ordered this item and it arrived intact and as promised. It was simple to build taking about a half an hour while watching TV. I had a little help from my wife when needed. The only small issues I had assembling the item were directly related to ignoring the instructions. The problem came when I visited my local Fred Myer store and found the same item for $45 less than I paid here.None the less, the item does exactly what I need; it is a perfect home for my 100 year old watch maker's lathe!

This cart was quite easy to assemble, but it took two people to do it - one to hold things in place and the other to screw the parts together. The instructions were diagrammatic and required a little flipping back and forth between pages to make sure we were putting the right parts in the correct places, but if you're reasonably good at puzzles it will be a piece of cake. We are pleased with how solid the cart is. The wood is all solid - no crappy particle board, so we have high hopes that the cart will wear well over many years. The foot print is a nice size and the drop leaf feature allows us to have more surface area when we need it while cooking; then when we are done we just fold down the leaves so it will be more compact. It's also great to have the extra drawer space, and the cabinet underneath is nice and roomy. All in all this is a great buy for the price.

I'll try not to be too gushing with this review, but the cart/island may have saved Thanksgiving. Also to keep it very quick.-Much faster than promised delivery. Can't make any promises on this always being the case, as I live in the NW. Still, a very welcome surprise.-All parts present and accounted for. There were some complaints of missing stuff. November 2011 they batted 1.000 for me.-Real wood. For some reason I suspected that they would skimp on the drawers or some hidden part, but no, it's all real wood.-Profoundly clear directions. The directions were unbelievably clear, and didn't contain any text. It was all pictorial and could not have been clearer. I've assembled a lot of varied equipment over the years, and I want to find whoever put these instructions together and give them a shiny gold star.-The locking casters keep it in place with multiple choppers. They do their job better than expected. Worth noting that there are only two locking-Convenient to wheel to where you need it.-Leafs (leaves?) are secure when raised.-Looks good. More of a varnished finish than butcher block.-Doesn't take up much room with leafs down, but is a "force multiplier" for a small kitchen if you are attempting serious cookery.

This butcher block is nothing short of wonderful. It is both beautiful and functional; the outside leaves are a cinch to pull up, and designed well so that they stay up, stay completely steady, and are able to hold considerable weight. The drawer and small cabinet beneath have been extremely useful, as is the open space between the top and the cabinets. The hardware is surprisingly nice, and the little towel rack on the back is handy. It looks much more expensive than it is. Now, for the down-side. Yes, assembly is both confusing, frustrating, and difficult. It comes with a couple of pages that must be deciphered, but, if taken slowly, and patiently, can be figured out. It absolutely takes two people to assemble it, and even then it can feel like acrobatics at a few points. There was a time or two my fianc and I truly believed that it was not going to fit together. Still, despite the 45 minutes or so of figuring the pictures out and a few circus moves, it was all more than worth it. (If I would have thought of it at the time, I would have put easy to follow directions online, and it may not be too late.) Once again, though, I will say that the short time of frustration was nothing against the pleasure and usefulness this product has provided. The legs and top are made of solid wood, and as I mentioned, the handles are a classy, elegant brushed metal. One word of caution as to assembly: when you hammer in the wheels, don't let the exhilaratiosteal of finally rounding that last assemblage curve steal your focus. Stay mindful, because only two of the wheels lock, and you will want them placed diagonally to one another if you want to lock the cart in place. (In other words, learn from our mistake.) This is a good buy, and has been both a life saver and an esthetic improvement for our kitchen. I recommend it highly!

It as exactly what I needed for extra counter space and storage when I downsized to a smaller apartment. Looks great, but had many pieces and took some maneuvering to assemble.

This cart is great! Unlike some other reviews, the pieces were packaged well and nothing arrived broken or missing, though an order form is sent in the package just in case. Arrived within a week and was easy to assemble. If you have ever put a lego set together, you can build this. Instructions just use step-by-step pictures, took me about an hour and a half. Once it was finished, it looked great, and for our small apartment kitchen, the fold out sides doubled our counter space! I was even surprised to see parts were made of solid wood, unlike the particle board crap sold at Ikea. Definitely need a mallet, however, to get the wheels on, but i can hardly call that a flaw.

We were amazed to get such a quality product - all real, solid wood (except the panels, which would be too heavy that way) - for a much lower price than other carts we saw that were made of white-painted particleboard. My engineer husband, who assembled the piece, was very impressed at the thoughtful engineering of the product. One instruction was misleading, and some steps required a second pair of hands, but otherwise no problem with assembly. We'll definitely check this manufacturer first next time we need a piece of furniture.

Nice cart with quality wood, casters, etc. Looks like it will hold up to heavy duty use. I purchased it to put a small charcoal grill on top. One problem, it did not ship with instructions nor are there online instructions.

Good-quality materials - solid wood, very nice wheels and handles. It took couple hours to put together but asides from a few minors imperfections, it's very nice cart.

I bought the drop-leaf kitchen cart as a storage unit for my office, although we tried it in the kitchen right after putting it together and it would work well there, too. It is great for organizing my different projects and also adds additional workspace when I need it. The top surface is slightly higher than a desk, so it is not the right height when seated, but it allows me to clean off my desktop, so I now have plenty of workspace. The assembly went very smoothly, until I got to the drawer assembly (the last step!) I checked all the parts first, after reading several reviews that complained about missing or extra parts. No problems there. My husband and I then proceeded to put it together following the instructions closely. There are several parts that require two people, but the only tools needed were the hex wrench, which is included, a Phillips screwdriver, and a mallet. The problem came when I started to put the drawer together and noticed that the grooves that hold the bottom were not lined up correctly. We concluded that the problem was with two small blocks of wood that are attached to the drawer front which have pre-drilled holes used to attach the side panels. We removed these blocks and moved them so all the grooves would line up. This required redrilling the holes needed to attach the little blocks, not a job for a novice like me. We did get the drawer assembled, but then found that it didn't slide all the way in, so I ended up sanding down the rails, which took at least an hour. I'm very happy with the finished product, but don't expect it to go without a hitch.

This item is well made with the joints fitting tightly and securely. It took a little work to assemble but definitely worth the effort. It really expands the working space of my tiny kitchen.

I'm using this cart as a craft station in a NY (read: cramped) apt. It came quickly and was pretty easy to assemble. I like it so far - it alleviated a lot of clutter.

Other reviews mention improper packaging and difficult assembly. My unit came with all the correct pieces (in good condition), and was very easy to assemble by myself. All pieces fit perfectly. This is a great value for the money. The only negatives were that the wood glue that came with the unit was useless so I used my own glue, and one of the drop leaves barely raises a little higher than than level when locked in the upright position. The problem with the leaf can be easily fixed by sanding the lock just a bit. All in all, I love it.

Terrific quality, surprised how sturdy it is for the price. Just a bit of a pain to put together, some parts need to be forced just a tad. Just move slow and follow the directions. Definitely much better than we anticipated.

I bought this kitchen cart because the two drop leaves come down when not in use, but completely opens up to a usable extra counter space when needed. One or two people can lift up one or both of the drop leaves and eat off the newly created 'table top' if you have bar stool height chairs to sit on. The wheels are very heavy duty and easy to roll around where needed. It was easy enough to put together, but at times it helps to have another person hold up a piece or use another piece of furniture to help hold up an end while trying to screw certain pieces together. You have to pay attention that all pieces stay square as you proceed to screw the whole thing together. I didn't have to adjust or cut anything to make it fit. The top was not oiled well, so I bought tung oil and re-applied to the entire top. The manufacturer suggests you oil every once in awhile to keep water from warping the wood. It took the oil well and I got all the missed areas. The drawer is a nice size and can hold utensils and boxed plastic storage bags. The cabinet area is spacious and can fit pots and pans, canned or boxed goods, etc..
