This shelf is perfect for the space, but I don't see how the two I received could have passed any kind of quality control. On the first one, one shelf looks like a large piece was burned or gouged or otherwise destroyed, and was replaced with more wood, with patches of wood filler not even smoothed out. There are long dark black streaks around the damaged area. The top shelf and one side piece had blue marks on the edges. Returned for replacement - the second one was similarly defective but in a less conspicuous place. It is also missing the wood caps that cover the screw holes. The only reason I will keep it, if I do, is because I cannot find anything else to fit the particular space. DO NOT BUY THIS if appearance rather than strictly utility is concern! A clever design but poorly manufactured.

This book shelf is made of quality hard wood and when assembled is very strong and sturdy. The assembly is very easy and the directions are easy to follow. Be careful of the different size screws. there are 4 short screws and the rest are long screws. The alan wrench that is included fits both size screws. The short screws are for the top shelf. I realized this after I had already used 2 of them for the lower selfs so I had to backtrack. Other than that this shelf is a very good addition to your home office or entertainment area.

I put this together with the help of my 6 year old son in about 20 minutes with an electric screwdriver. It fits ALOT of books. I would hazard a guess we have at least 100 paperbacks and easy readers level 1 and 2 books. And we still can fit a lot more. What I like most is that it doesn't take up a lot of room but holds a substantial amount of books. I would not recommend this bookshelf in a toddler's room though. It can easily fall forward on a curious child tugging on it. It's fine for older children who know enough not to pull on it.

It is sturdy and easy to put together. I had a little difficulty fitting bigger books in the book case. But all in all, it holds a lot of books and is toddler durable.

This bookshelf is great if you have a ton of books! It will hold most books; I had some trouble getting my textbooks to fit, because of the way the shelves are slanted it won't hold 10.5 inch books upright. It went together very easy and its perfect for a small room.
