I bought this switch to turn on cooling fans for the exterior refrigerator compartment in my RV. I put it on my heating tube at the condenser inlet and wanted my fans to turn on at 130 degrees, but this switch is 20 degrees off. I had to set it at 110 to get the switch to close at 130 degrees. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

First this is the device to use if you want to keep something from overheating, for example a refridgerator or a greenhouse fan. When it gets to the temp you set it turns the fan on, once the temp drops 20 then it turns off. Second i was a bit confused about what is the on and off temp of this device. I went to manufacturers site, emerson, and researched. It says that when you set the dial to 130, it turns on at 130 and off at 110, if you set it at 90 it turns on at 90 and off at 70. Each device may be off in calibration, so it may appear that when you set it at 130 it turns on at 140 and off at 120 BUT the intent of the numbers on the dial are the temp that the switch is closed- or rather turns on the device. I also want to add that if this is being used in a critical application, like to control a greenhouse fan, that it would be a good idea to wire two of these in parallel, that way if one goes out the other will still switch on. In the greenhouse application if the fan goes out there could be thousands of dollars of lost plants, use two of these to avoid a costly failure. If you are using this on an rv refridgerator keep in mind if you set it at 110 it will turn off at 90, therefore on a hot summer day in the 90's the fan will never turn off. A good temp for that application is on at 130 and off at 110. I like to live on the edge and be bold, so i used a fan with led lights on it. Go ahead, be a crazy risk taker, get led lights for the fan. Living on the edge never felt so good.
