I tried an off brand (twice) that did not turn the red light off (that indicated the filter needed to be changed). This one was easy to install and cleared the red light.

This is authentic GE. For the right fit and operation I always buy brand when I can. Imitation is a gamble that, often, doesn't pay off. This is expensive, but worth it.
