This is the kind of scythe they gave us when I worked, briefly on the cranberry bogs of Cape Cod back in the early 70's. It is very efficient and clears more ground than a small lawnmower in the same amount of time.Just be careful sharpening and using it. I'm glad I bought it!

I read some reviews about not being sharp. This blade is a stock blade and will NOT come razor sharp. If it did, you would probably lose a finger trying to open it up. You must first peen and hone this blade! Not a big deal if you know what your doing. I'm a beginner using a scythe and the peening process is tedious and takes a ton of time and I'm still learning.This is a beautiful blade and I haven't yet completed the sharpening process since I'm practicing on a cheaper not so nice blade. This one should last a lifetime and cut like a beast! :) Happy mowing!Remember the tang needs to be at the right angle too to fit your height. Just grab a blow torch and a vice and remember to shove a potato over the end of the blade to protect it. Google and Youtube will be your best friend if you are a beginner like me.
