This sliding mat is BIG!!!!! Much bigger than I thought it would be. Lots of padding for the slider, Built very well and a great tool to teach someone to slide. The Slide Rte can be used indoors or out. You do not have to wait for a sunny day to get the slip & slide out for sliding practice anymore. With this sliding training mat you can have slide practice any time any where.

I am the coach of an 11u travel softball team and my girls love it. We have used it indoors all winter long for sliding, diving back to a base and diving for a ball. Only draw back is.....the cost.

Nice product, kids love sliding practice with this pad. I also roll it up and use it as a hitting pad, to get the kids to understand to hit the ball HARD.

This thing basically does what it advertises. It's padded, and has a canvass sliding sheet on top. It's made very sturdy and can take some pounding as long as you wear sneakers and not cleats. A couple issues I had with it:1. It is meant to be rolled up for storage, but then when you unroll it and put it on the ground, the edges roll up off the ground. This makes it pretty hard to slide onto it without catching the lip and pushing it forward instead of sliding onto it. This can be dangerous. It's possible to roll it backwards I guess, but then the sliding sheet is flopping around on the outside, and the ties that secure it are rolled into the middle.2. The canvass sliding sheet is very very thin. If there is any wind at all, even a slight breeze, then it goes flying. You run up at full speed and have to stop and replace the sheet. If you slide onto it without the sliding sheet it would be very dangerous - more dangerous than sliding on bare ground.3. It's expensive! Very expensive for what it is.I still give it 3 starts because, despite its flaws, this is the only alternative. I've heard of people using refrigerator boxes and bedsheets, but then you don't have the padding. The padding helps develop confidence. You can practice good form without hitting the ground so hard.

This is a good quality, well constructed item. Kids love it.You should be aware that the base is not attached as shown in the picture. I contacted the mfg. and they said the base in the picture was "just of for demonstration purposes." I ordered the mat thinking my kids would learn how to slide "into" the base and pop up, not really an option for this item. I think it does work well for taking some of the fear out of sliding, making it easier to teach correct technique. Haven't been able to make up my mind on whether I think its worth the price.
