Overall, the Rev-A-Shelf for its price point is a product that is not designed to handle, with the surface space allotted, a full compliment of can goods on the top shelf. The set screw holding method is insufficient in applying pressure to the center rod considering these shelf hubs are plastic. I resolve to drill a hole in the rod for the set screw, allowing the set to maintain the top shelf's position grip without sliding down the weight. Obviously, a household's shelf utility may vary considerably. However, a manufacturer weight bearing estimate would be helpful. For example, my old system lasted over 30 years using metal shelf hubs. It could hold a combo of normal and large soup cans-- in most instances double stacked. Deterioration break down of the plastic prompted this replacement.
