Easy assembly, super quiet, skims great right out of the box, no adjustment hassles at all. I don't hear it at all w/ cabinet doors closed, and barely when open and in there up close. Very pleased w/ this purchase.

I researched skimmers and asked many questions before buying my first skimmer and glad that I had. Using DC instead of AC makes the setup and operation so simple. I had the skimmer installed and running properly in under an hour. People that I spoke with said it took weeks to get their AC skimmers working properly. The key is a variable speed motor. I rinsed the skimmer with fresh water to remove any plastic residue, made sure that there was 7 inches of water in the skimmer section of the sump tank, set the motor to the 2nd speed (2 out of 5) and I was skimming the nastiness. I have been enjoying cleaner and clearer water without issue for over a month now. It is very quiet and simple to operate. Glad I did my homework and spent a bit more to get the variable speed DC motor. The drain hose is nice for emptying the collection cup every week and not having to take anything apart.The materials are very well made and solid so I am not worried about anything cracking or falling apart for many years. The motor creates a lot of bubbles and can not be heard over the water flow that already exists in my sump area.Glad I got the Reef Octopus Regal 150S for my 150 gallon tank with 40 gallon sump. It is highly recommended.
