The F4F Wildcat was a carrier based fighter aircraft manufactured by Grumman during WW2 for the U.S Navy and other customers. The Wildcat was really the only U.S fighter available to the U.S Navy in the Pacific Theater as the Brewster Buffalo proved to be horribly inadequate and Buffaloes were replaced by Wildcats as they became available. However, the Wildcat was still slower than the Mitsubishi Zero by 13 mph,was less maneuverable than the Zero and had less range. However, the Wildcats ruggedness and tactics such as the Thach Weave leveled out the playing field and the Wildcat had a combined 6.9/1 claimed kill ratio for the war.Now to the model. The model is great and the paint job is wonderful. Note the red circle inside the roundel. This was later deleted from both the Navy's and the Army Air Forces for very obvious reasons. The prop does spin and the model comes with two drop tanks underneath the wings that cannot be removed. I have nothing else to say about this model other than that its money well spent.
