We have two fountains, both with 850 GPH pumps. We get wind-driven dust and dirt that gathers on the fountains and washes into the sump underneath. Typically, the standard filters would get cleaned a couple times a month to maintain proper flow. As the old filter foam deteriorated, I started looking for a better and larger filter media so I wuldn't have to clean them as often. This product takes care of those needs nicely. Two of these filters have been in service since January 2013. At the time of this initial review, I have yet to need to service either filter. Fountain flows are still excellent. Had I known earlier that this was available, I would have jumped at the chance to install it sooner. Don't get me wrong, I **love** moving rocks and fumbling with the filters to get them out and clean them ;). Even more, I **love** not having to.

This is perfect if you have your pump directly in your pond. It prevents my baby turtles and smaller fish from getting sucked in. I bought two and the other I'm using on an outtake hose to diffuse water flow pressure. Danner stuff lasts FOREVER. I have a pump that's been running 24/7/365 for 7 years.. Tons of bang for your buck. Highly reccomended

The filter is great! The filter is a bit expensive but it is twice as large as the regular pond filters you can get a local store! The filter has been working well! Thank you

Small in ground fish/ turtle pond- 800 gallon. Old prefilter was 1/3 this size and had to be cleaned every 7 days or less.

The only reason this gets a 3 star from me is the the demensions listed are incorrect. By a large margin. Try 4 x 3 x 2. Not 12 x 8 x 8. Other wise, fine product. I am still using what I ordered ( 4 total ) just having to use them all at once.... Will not order this again though.

I have a small (90 gallon) pond with plants and 8 koi. I had to clean filters after mid summer about every other day- this Danner filter allows me to go a week plus without cleaning. Yea!

I use these filters/strainers in my garden pond and I've seen ones like this that are way overpriced but this one is less so. Longer, cylindrical shaped ones go as much as $10 which I think in ridiculous, this one at $4 is better, but still a lot of money for something that probably cost pennies to make. The hard plastic insert wouldn't stay on the plastic pipe on my pump but I have others that do. It has more surface area and goes longer without needing to be changed.
