This adapter cord enables you to quickly power your electronic projects, which come with a DC jack, with battery power. The tip positive 2.1 x 5.5 mm DC plug will replace your power adapter for true portable use.

Many amp boards, and other small project boards, have a tip positive 2.1 x 5.5 mm DC power receptacle. If you don't have an AC/DC power adapter you could solder together a 9 volt clip to a DC plug for battery power. This adapter cord eliminates the need for solder so you can quickly make your project truly portable. One good example is a display that plays a short message when someone pushes a button.
This adapter cord also works great for premade electronics. If your electronic products at home have a tip positive 2.1 x 5.5 mm DC jack, you can use this 4" adapter cord to make it battery powered. Battery packs with 9 volt clips come in a variety of voltages. So if your product requires 12 volts DC you can get a battery pack that holds eight AA batteries. The more amps your product uses the faster the batteries will run down. Rechargeable batteries work great for this situation because you don't have to through them away when they run down.
Caution: Make sure you DC jack is tip positive. Electronics that draw more than 2 amps can overheat AA batteries.
