Love these balls for massaging lower back and hips! I have tried lacrosse balls, tennis balls, etc. but my pilates instructor had one of these at her studio and within minutes of rolling on this, my always-sore back was feeling so much better! SO I ordered this. You should use it on a hard surface and definitely only on hips (I think way too strong for neck). It's amazing!!
