These solder, adhesive heat shrink butt connectors are perfect for the person who doesn't like to solder or crimp when splicing wires together. Hot air from a heat gun melts the center solder ring into the two crossed bare wires and the outer tube shrinks around the insulated wire jacket resulting in a firm, water tight, long lasting connection.

Solder is recommended to give you the best connection between wires, and wire connectors, but isn't always possible or practical. Standard crimp butt splice connectors can pull loose if not done properly and don't seal out moisture which can lead to intermittent connections. The solder ring inside the NTE adhesive lined heatshrink tube enables you to get that perfect connection without using a soldering iron or gun, and no crimping is needed. Just stick your bare wires into each side of the butt connector so they cross underneath the solder ring (without having any bare wires outside the heat shrink tubing). Apply hot forced air, 266° F or higher, to the solder ring until the solder melts and the tubing shrinks tightly around the wire jacket. Inspect the bare wires in the center of the butt connector to ensure they are still crossed and the solder is melted to each wire. The adhesive melts with the solder and the tubing shrinks to give the splice a water tight seal. Heat guns (like our370-364) reach the desired temperature quickly and work the best. A very hot hair dryer may also work. The red ring around the 1.6" (40.5 mm) long transparent sleeve identifies that these solder butt connectors are for 22 to 18 gauge wire.
Soldering wire to components with solid leads is not always possible either. Crimping just doesn't always work well when splicing solid leads to stranded wires due to their different compositions. This makes NTE solder butt connectors the perfect solution for connecting stranded wires to resistors, capacitors, pig tail fuses, and LEDs without using a soldering iron or crimping tool.
