I notice that a number of reviews mention it being hard to pull the cable tight enough in order to prevent one loop or another from still being slipped over the end of the kayak. I recently experienced the same problem, though I did manage to make it work on my trip. Eventually, I discovered that the seller accidentally sent me the wrong model cable--which was for slimmer touring kayaks--even though in the correct (purple) bag for the model I needed, which was for recreational kayaks. So, even after you receive your cable, be sure the loop itself measures to the size advertised for your model. You might even try the larger size anyway for your touring kayak, as it would then pull a bit further up the kayak before securing it, making it impossible to slip the loops over the ends. All in all, this is a great product and design, which I highly recommend.

Just what I was looking for to keep a kayak secured to a trailer, WHEN PARKED. This is NOT enough to hold a kayak down while trailering.

A must if you leave your kayak on your vehicle unattended.

Very effective at its job. I've got a long 16ft sea kayak on kayak J-bars. Lasso's go easily on both ends with a decent amount of slack in the middle still. I just wrap it around the bars 2-3 times it is a tight fit at the combination lock connector in the middle. Easy to set the combination at start and works like a charm. I've only used this on one trip so far. The lock works as expected, but in the grand scheme I really wish I didn't have one more thing to take off and put on the kayak. Putting it on the roof, and securing it with 2 tie downs already takes a good amount of time. The lasso is an extra step I don't see myself using often. For this trip I was particularly worried, because I needed to park the carkayak in a busy lot for several hours. If I'm just stopping briefly I wouldn't care so much.

Bought for pelican trailblazer 10 foot kayak. This lock is for a 34;touring kayak34; which explains why I might have had trouble. I was unable to get this to work with my intended goal of securing my kayak to a post. It probably works fine on other boats but the nose and tail of the trailblazer was too round/wide to get a good tight grip. even with considerable effort to get the lock tightened, I found that I could just slip one end off of the boat and then the whole thing was free. Be aware of the geometry of your boat before you buy.

So strong that when the wind blew my kayak off the roof to the side and unhooked the ties, the lock cord was fully supporting the weight. Very study. A little hard to get over the end of the boat and pull down though for short people.

The product is sturdy and it was easy to set the combination lock. I feel better having my two kayaks safe and secure on top of my car.

I use this to lock down my Perception Carolina 14' kayak. It's a pretty good hefty lock for the price. I used to worry about leaving the kayak unattended on my car or outside my place, this cable lock gives me peace of mind

Lasso does not replace locks. Given the costs of these cables and their fragility, I would question this policy.

I have 2 Wilderness Systems Pungo 120's which are close to $800 each so a $100 for (2) lassos is not too bad for some insurance. There is 6 foot 8 inch of cable from the point that the lasso connect for each end. This will work to secure your kayak on the roof rack. You will have to wind the 13 feet and 4 inches around your car rack to keep someone from slipping the lassos off of the ends and stealing your kayak. When you need to secure the kayak around a tree or post you will need an additional 15 foot cable lock to keep the lassos taunt to keep them from being slipped off. A 15 foot cable is an additional $18. We like to frequent rivers and we have to leave the kayaks unguarded while we shuttle vehicles to the take out point. I have measured the loops and they are 44 inches round if that helps with the sizing.

Well made and they do the job. I ordered one for each of my kayaks. Would have liked to have a shorter length for when I'm locking the boats to my roof top carrier, which is where I utilize this lock the most.

Just bought two of these, and I can't set any combination other than 0000, which really defeats the purpose of the lock. The spindle on each lock won't rotate properly, no matter what I do to the number wheels. For fifty bucks apiece, these things should work. Don't buy unless you're looking for frustration.

My kayak has a narrow front and wider back end. Could not get the loop snug enough on the back to tighten the cable and secure the kayak.
