I bought these after watching a youtube video that recommended them. I used them on a plastic drum and every month or so, they broke the outer plastic lip which caused the water to leak. Draining 30-40gallons of water into the hog pen. This happened 3 times in 6 months. Will not buy plastic again.

We bought 6 of these to make a water barrel for our pigs. They worked exactly as designed but the stress of they drinking broke the bulkhead. If this is used for a rain barrel it would work great.

Purchased to make a watering system for some backyard chickens. The bucket was drilled near the bottom on the side and the fitting feed through PVC pipe and fittings to the run area. With the 5 chickens I only have to fill it every 4 or 5 days. Using a black 5 gallon bucket with the screw on lid also prevents the growth of algae in the water. So if you decide to do the same type of system, be aware that a white or blue bucket allows the growth of algae in just 2 or 3 days

The outer ring that holds it in place broke on both that I ordered within two weeks. Don't buy this is cheap plastic. I wished I'd bought the brass ones for a few dollars more
