Read the knowledge based reviews. If the distance between the transmitting device (i.e. bluray player) and the receiver (projector) is more than 35 feet and resolution is 1080P plus, then a form of (active) amplification and equalization is highly recommended. That said one and only one 34;active34; component is needed. This is an excellent cable when used in conjunction with an active component. Also the minimum bend radius for this cable should not exceed 20X
