Put new on wall had to cover old switch plate marks. Worked out perfect didn't have to repaint and match color.

This Honeywell THP2400A1068/U Cover Plate Assembly works well with the Honeywell T9 thermostat for covering existing holes. A bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but worth the time savings of spackling and painting the old thermostat mounting holes. I had to shim the T9 terminal strip out about 1/8 to allow for the extra thickness of this plate. This plate has a cutout hole that is slightly larger than the T9 mount, so just loosely fits around the terminal black without mating to it. The T9 thermostat then plugs into the terminal black and covers the cutout.

Installing a smallish vertical thermostat like the Honeywell T10 presents challenges for covering mounting holes and paint edges from older horizontal, rectangular thermostats. This wall plate in conjunction with the T10 wiring/mounting block stylishly covers it all so you don't have to repaint. (The similar T9 does not include a compatible wiring/mounting block.)

Had to remove small tabs on back and shim adaptor so thermostat could connect. Thermostat was a T-5

I had a T6 which I replaced with a T9, but T9 doesn't come with a cover plate (pretty dumb if you ask me - just include this). This worked PERFECTLY with the T6 back plate and terminals. T9 looks great now.Note that this is the cover plate only - it does not include the terminal or back plate.

I should have read the reviews before I purchased this product. A friend ordered a smart thermostat for their home (after I got one for my home they wanted one) so once everything arrived I ordered this part on the recommendation of Honeywell because the trim plate that was included with the thermostat was really small. They told me that this was the part needed for the T9 but like everyone else when I got it all I got was the plate. No way to attach the wall plate to anything. I thought I could just snap the thermostat on top of it but nope! The plate is too thick so the thermostat refuses to snap in place. I'm not sure why Honeywell makes the standard installation adapter so hard to find. If they are going to recommend this for their newer thermostats then at least include the adapter in the box with all of the thermostats or include all of the needed parts with the trim plate. Luckily I didn't have this problem with my thermostat which is a more tradional rectangular shape AND the trim plate came with all the needed parts. Very disappointing that Honeywell doesn't offer a trim plate kit for the T9 and surprising since they could probably make a lot of money selling them. If you have a rectangular thermostat and plan on replacing it with a t series then get the T10 which comes with a bigger trim plate or get ready to paint/repair the wall around the T9
