Sound is fine for me. Smooth and full. I cannot test the actual frequency range but they fill the room.---I had to rebuild two DALI III speakers sets from 1983. Nice systems for a mid-size room but the foam ring around the woofers had just crumbled over the years. The Goldwood 8028 is an almost perfect fit. The original 8 woofers' frame had a slightly irregular shape, and the cutout in the cabinet was irregular to match. Once I added a bit of wood to fill the gaps, the new woofers went right in. (Actually they would have gone in with NO modification and had gaps around the edges-- but I wanted to seal the cabinet to prevent air from going around the woofer frame, as the designer intended.)

I bought these to replace my 34 year old speaker box speakers that dry rotted. The foam actually just fell apart.They fit the hole I had. Just had to shim them a little to keep the metal grill from bending and distorting the speaker frame. I paid less for these OEM type speakers than when I bought them new. And I pretty much got the same sound I had. Just enough for these 55 year old classic and progressive rock ears.

Bass is tight and fast, not too convinced about how deep it's supposed to go. I tried these as a replacement for a home theater JBL powered subwoofer. It couldn't reach as deep as the JBL did. I then decided to build a 3 way bookshelf. It sounded much better for music. Does bass fast and with a punch. I couldn't get it to hit the really deep bass though. Maybe it needs a bigger enclosure, or maybe it's /-3db rating is closer to 40Hz on the low end. Overall would recommend, you get a lot for the money.
