I first saw this colander at a place I was renting and decided that it was so neat that I really wanted one for myself. I have another collapsible colander - the kind that has a rubbery bowl that folds up along seams to become more flat. That one works well enough, but I really prefer this one for several reasons. Since it is entirely rigid, I feel like I can clean it better because I can scrub it without it bending away from me. The fact that it folds flat is so convenient. Also, it snaps open and stays open. The thing I like best about it is that the stand is built-in. Another colander I have uses fold-out legs that collapse on you if you push it sideways across the counter. This one wouldn't have that problem. And, of course, another plus is that it just looks cool. I often wash grapes or cherries in it, then just set it out for serving.
