Meh,, not all that useful as far and falsley represents itself. Hikes are more a collection of thru hikes. IMO a hike that requires shuttles or two cars isnt a day hike. Almost all of these hikes listed are straight line out hikes, there are lots and lots of side trails in VA, where you can hike a section of Appalachian trail and then do another trail to loop back to your car.This book has almost none of those which makes it pretty worthless.

This is a great book with tons of information. I am a section hiker and really appreciate the way that the information is presented to make it easy to figure out how to get in and get out. That's not to say it wouldn't be super useful to a through hiker as well.
