I originally bought the Danner 950 gpm four years ago. It worked fine and still works fine. I needed more powerful pump since i have 4 koi (along with 4 goldfish and a catfish) where the koi eat a lot of produce a lot of waste. I needed more power especially since i added an extra (smaller than the original) waterfall. Given that I put this pump in a large pot covered with lava rock, which keeps a lot of the muck away from the pump, while the rest does go to the bio-filter. This keeps the pump pressure higher for a long period of time. I haven't had to adjust anything in a few weeks. As long as the bacteria levels are kept up so that the muck is broken down, this pump has eliminated a lot of weekly maintenance.

I installed this pump today, and it is very quiet. I cannot tell it is on. The only way I can tell is through the water movement in my tank. This pump is well worth the money. I connected a 3/4FPT to 1 Slip adapter and let the pumping begin. I think I will order a second one to replace another noisy pump in my sump.

Other reviews mentioned plastic prefilter collapsed. Mine came with a plastic insert which has prevented this so far. I have a 400 gal. pond with waterfall feature and this is just right.

This is the second one of these I have bought. The first one lasted at least 6 years under continuous use and would have gone longer if I hadn't broken the impeller housing while trying to remove some leaves that were clogging the intake.

Just upgraded to this pump for my 600-ish gallon pond. I installed it last weekend and it's working beautifully and quietly. One suggestion for Danner: while overall their pumps are sturdy and reliable, the faceplates on them - which includes the output port - are plastic, which becomes a problem with repeated attaching and reattaching of hoses. The threads wear down or get damaged, particularly with metal connectors such as when I hook on my garden hose to drain my pond. My solution has been to permanently keep a plastic hose connector on it as I switch from waterfall line to drainage hose. Still, very happy with this pump and Danner products overall.

This pump came faster than I expected, which made me and my fish very happy. It is stronger than my old pump and I hope it will be beneficial for my pond.

Alot of people have had problem with the pump being loud but mine is very quiet. The efficiency of the pump could be a bit better but its not all that bad especially considered on my 125 gallon tank I would run 4 penguins 350's and a canister filter. I have big cichlids and keep them well fed which why I tend to go over kill on the filtration unit. The pump is being used to run my 75 gallon sump it would be nice if it pumped a little bit more water but thats my fault for not wanting to spend the extra 20 for the 18. Overall its a superb pump and I have used mag drive pumps for the 5 years I have been keeping fish.

You can never go wrong with a pond master pump. Spend a little more and have the confidence that it will outlast all the lower cost pumps, you would rather enjoy the aquarium or pond rather then always replacing a bad pump.

The pump in the 2months of use was easily installed and has worked nonstop 24/7 perfectly. The filter or pre filter in the picture was not the one I found on opening the package. The one received was the rigid style, actually a better type I think.

Used to own the 1800 gph of this same pump but it died due to a bad setup after almost ten years. Bought a few less expensive pumps to replace and they did not work as well or last but a few years at best. This 1200gph has really helped keep the water flowing through the filters to keep our pond clear and clean. Great product.

This is my second Danner/Pondmaster 1200 GPMH I've owned and was bought as a backup incase the original stops working. The pump is used for a small 500 - 600 gallon goldfish and koi pond and powers the filter and waterfalls. Because the pump is important to keep the waterfalls running so the water stays oxygenated I deceided to purchase a backup just in case. The original Danner/Pondmaster 1200 GPM has been working nonstop for 4 years without any issues. About once a year I'll take the pump apart and clean the impeller just to make sure it stays running at top performance, and since it only takes a few minutes to do this, I figure why not. When buying this pump I'd recommend getting the plastic prefilter verses the foam prefilter. I've found that the foam one clogs much quicker and is not as easy to clean as the plastic one. The pump has very few parts, a long power cable, and is easy to work with. It is also very quite and energy efficient. There are many pumps on the market that range in costs from very low to very high. Personally I'd stay away from the low cost ones because they seem cheap in how they were made and I don't see any reason to purchase the top of the line expensive pumps when the Danner/Pondmaster is available. From my personal experience this pump can not be beat in cost for the quality it has built in.

This was the best price I could find and it works as expected. I've been using it in an outdoor goldfish pond for about a month now. This seems to be the main brand carried by all the pond suppliers I shop locally. The instructions that come in the box need improvement - I had to search online to get more detailed instructions. Also the box/item was dropped before it came to me and had a small dent, but since it worked fine, I just kept it. It's actually a rather heavy item for the size of the box - so the delivery people might have dropped it.

This pump appears to be well made, solid construction. I hooked the pump up using 1" tubing to a Cal Pump 10" spillway. Getting good flow rate without any adjustments. Running 3 weeks now, no problems.

These pumps appearantly do not stop working. Had a 250 GPH in my first pond running muck and all through it for 3 years. Have in a skimmer now in a new pond and still going strong 24/7 It is also the same one I run in the winter, so actually 24/7 and all year round. the 1200 gph is just as good. If I HAD to complain and IM NOT, I would say that my 1200 which is used "inline" now is a bit noisy but it really isn't a problem and not sure why it would be a problem for anyone esp. since these cost me next to nothing to run BOTH. cant say enough about them, esp. if you run them in the last phase of a gravity filter (like you should anyway). Theres really nothing to break except the impeller and I don't see why it would even break in my situation. Wouldn't consider any other brand after using these. I really liked the nice looking external pumps I've seen online, but these have already been proven to me. Even if those other ones I was interested in do run a little cheaper per month w/ more gph, whats more important to me is these just wont stop yet. One more thing is you should take the time to run 1200 gph model through no less then 1 1/2" pipe. Get the two extra fittings and do it right.*updatePumps are still flawless through a properly set up koi pond (bottom drain, gravity filtered, settling chamber, matala, K-1 media bed.. the works) Koi happy and healthy w/ no losses, and all of my pumps have been running since my last review appearantly 22 months ago. As for the negative reviews, yes dont buy this if your going to put a pump in the bottom of a store bought pond and pump filthy, lifeless water through a 3/4 inch flex hose from the big box store, then over some rocks, then back to the "pond". Research your needs.

I have had one of these for at least twelve years and it has been running almost continually the whole time. I have had to replace two impellers and a front manifold. It is a workhorse. Very dependable. If you are thinking of buying a submersible for a filter or waterfall, this would be a good choice. I am running mine in a 100 gallon MacCourt pond through a Pondmaster 1000 filter up to my 14" waterfall weir about three feet at a 45 degree diagonal from the pump. It works great and I get a wonderful flow on the waterfall.

The pump works great and is very heavy duty. I'll update the review later to see if it really doesn't leak.
