On low setting and on all day can last 21 days. I bought it so if I go away I don't have to leave lights on. Safety and save on electric bill is important to me.

The Coleman lantern is very bright with alkaline batteries. I haven't had it long enough to know how it will be but I will say it is bright.

I bought this for a weekend camp trip because I didn't want to have to deal with my old white fuel lantern. It worked very well. It takes 8 D cell batteries which is alot. I used it after dark for the table and inside the tent, in addition to leaving it on low all night for safety. I actually bought two of these. They are very bright when set to high, so low is perfect for camping. I haven't used them in the rain, but the base is sealed so it probably won't be a problem.

I really like this lantern. Very nice. I have used it twice to hide in an inside closet from a tornado warning.

Bought this for my mom who lives in Hurricane territory..She put it on the counter between kitchen and dining/living room and said it completely lit all 3 rooms and even well into her den area....Shes happy with it and now she won't have to use candles in a power outage or carry it from room to room.

I love a Coleman lantern, but with young kids, a fuel powered one isn't a good idea. This battery one works great, isn't hot, and has no fuel to spill or glass to break. A minor quibble is that I do wish the dimmest setting was a little dimmer for bedtime, but definitely a keeper for years to come.

We've used them often on our Adirondack island, where storms often knock out all power. Of course, our forefathers made do without any electricity at all until after WWII.But the Coleman lanterns have come to the rescue many times here in Baltimore City as well - from 2008 through 2022 our power went out whenever there was construction nearby. At least once a year! Often seems ironic to be using the same items I used as a child! Electricity went off a couple weeks ago. I have a regular Coleman lantern, that puts out some heat. This is for the summer time power outages. Hopefully I never have to use it.

This replaced a much older Coleman electric lantern i had that used fluorescent tubes but had loose electrical connections. I'm pleased with this new one, seems like a little more light than the old one, and with LEDs it should last longer. The old one used 6v lantern batteries, and this one uses D batteries (a bunch of them) which are more universally available. Also it seems the battery cover is easier to get aligned and put on with this one, so pretty happy with it.
