I was planning on using a Helicoil type kit from a local parts store as I had done on a few engines before. However, the tapered seat and thread location in Ford Triton engines are not normal. Even though the spark plug has 10 or more threads, only 4 are used in the cylinder head. Why? We will never know. Using a Helicoil is possible, but you must use an endoscope and fine tune the actual location of the insert before seating it...which is why I bought this kit! No funny guess work, just use some high temp thread locker or JB-Weld and call it a day.

This was the best kit for retapping my spark plug. Product was designed very nicely and the parts are very sturdy and will be able to use many times. Very easy to use and will save you a lot of money at the shop. Very well made and the instructions are easy to follow. Highly recommend this product.

Did not like that I had to adapt the air hose fitting to go into a standard air hose coupler. Had to make a run to the hardware store.

2008 Ford E250 blew a plug. Tried using $60 Napa kit, but their insert shredded like a slinky. Don t waste money on any other thredding kit. It may be a bit pricey, but it was worth every penny. Fixed and back on the road in no time!

Worked exactly as it should on first attempt. Don't buy a cheap kit go ahead and purchase this kit. Also recommend having an inspection scope and vacuum attachments small enough to get any small pieces out that won't blow out.

Great kit for fixing those pesky spark plugs that keep popping out of the cylinder head.Set piston at BOTTOM dead center, bore offending plug hole, clean out hole with compressed air and a shop vac, tap hole, clean, clean, clean, apply hi-temp red thread lock to insert threads, apply hi-temp JB Weld under insert hat, install insert via spark plug, torque, let sit for 24 hours, done.
