This standard duty CRL Tubular Spiral Window Balance for non-tilt type windows will replace a metal or plastic tube balances with a sash load capacity of up to 25 pounds. NOTE: This FR Series Balance is also available with End Clips FS342 (Cat. No. FR2842) and FS343 (Cat. No. FR2843).
How to Order Tubular Spiral Window Balances with Factory Installed Clips:
1. Specify that the tube on the old balance is metal or plastic.
2. Measure the tube length from the end of the balance to the bottom of the colored nylon bushing only. Do not include the rod extension.
3. Check the color of the nylon bushing.
4. Verify that the rod extension protruding from the nylon bushing matches.
5. Choose required clip.
6. Match tube diameter, tube length, nylon bushing color and clip against the balance to be replaced. If all agree, then this is the correct balance.
NOTE: This FR Series Balance is also available with End Clips FS342 (Cat. No. FR2842) and FS343 (Cat. No. FR2843).

The height of the spring is to high and very difficult to insert screen in the frame. You must adjust the frame to allow for the high tension of the screen. Build your screen and insert to the opening with the spring to verify it will fit. You will probably need to make 1/4 inch allowance more than a lower profile spring.

Replaced my old screens with solar screens. These clips were easy to put on and added a lot of extra tension to the window frames to help keep them in place.To make the screens I used 5/16 screen frames, 0.155 diameter spline and the 5/16 stamped aluminum frame corners. I used Phifer SuperSolar screens.Came out really nice and I can already tell a difference in both sun glare and heat transfer through the windows.
