About 6 months ago I started on an iNaturalist photo project - a bioblitz of the organisms on/near the Appalachian Trail near home. Holding my cell phone steady enough for high quality closeup photos was a huge problem. I put on several layers of polyurethane and a long nail in the bottom to convert this into a small monopod. (I also added a nylon sheath to the nail side to protect my daypack.) Then found a bracket to hold my cell phone and added a Blue Tooth device to trigger the shutter. It works!
