34;The Adventures of A Coda34; by Ruth Reppert could more aptly be described as a journey rather than a book. From the very beginning, Ruth's story transports you back in time to the extent where you feel like you are with her on this ride. Her descriptive words, her insight and the sequence of this beautifully written autobiography grabs you from the very start. Unlike other books about children of deaf parents, Ruth's book describes the positive impact her parent's had on her life and the many beautiful 34;gifts34; they gave her. From the development of her sign language skills to her experiences in the Deaf Club, the love and influence of her parents surely shines through. I absolutely enjoyed every page this book and I know everyone who picks it up will feel the same.

A very interesting read for me, as I have a non-verbal child with special needs. He hears and understands what is said, but his method of communicating with others is through signing. I love your message of teaching the world about signing! Kudos to you for publishing this book.

I enjoyed this book; it was well-written and an easy read. I especially liked the opening chapters, which allowed me to travel back to a time when life was more challenging for Deaf people. I was particularly touched by the life lessons taught and modeled by the author???s dad. Tales of their family???s experiences were quite moving; I was brought to both laughter and tears. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a firsthand glimpse into Deaf culture and Sign Language interpreting.

Ruth pulls you into an intriguing and challenging journey of her experience of being born to two deaf parents. Not only are you introduced to the obstacles of having parents who can't hear you cry, laugh or your words of admiration but you are intrigued with the push of these loving parents to raise a strong, loving and admirable young woman. Ruth has turned her challenges into agents of change for others as she has allowed the Lord to use her circumstances to take her on an amazing journey. A must read!!

This book was amazing! I have been a friend of Ruth for over 60 years and had no idea how involved her life was in the deaf community. Her many accomplishments in her younger years were all news to me - quite an eye-opener. I, also knew her parents - they were self-sufficient in spite of their hearing loss, and they were always smiling:) Thank you, Ruth for your memoirs. I know this book is a dream come true where you shared your life in the hearing and non-hearing worlds.

My aunt, Ruth Reppert, wrote this book. I so enjoyed reading it. It is fascinating and insightful. Even though I knew her parents when I was a child, I didn't know any of the background story of her upbringing. She began learning sign language and interpreting at a very early age. She was thrust into situations that most of us have never had to face; like reading someone's lips, their signing, then interpreting in front of a stadium of people. I also learned that emotion must be added to make the communication complete. She was and still is an advocate for the DEAF population. Imagine yourself unable to hear and being admitted to a hospital; how do you communicate to the doctors and staff? She introduced many such programs to further communication in such situations. You will enjoy this book without a doubt and will learn a great deal in the process. Bravo Aunt Ruth! One further tribute goes to my Uncle Bob, her husband. He loved and supported her along this truly incredible journey. Thank you.

Many books have been written to improve understanding related to having a disability, or having a child with a disability. Very little has been shared by other family members whose lives have been impacted by having a close family member with sensory challenges. Ms. Reppert has written an eloquent description of her family's experience: how it shaped her daily life from an early age and eventually impacted her life choices and career. This memoir makes it very clear that the deaf community does face unique challenges, but are not 34;disabled34;. They are merely different, and speak a different language!
