I love the quality of the awning shade. It looks just like we wanted it to look. The price was very affordable. The only problem is the assembly instructions are not easy to understand. It makes it very hard to put together.

We had a couple of salesmen from the Name brand awnings come to our home to pitch their awnings. The idea of paying several thousand $$$ for an awning just didn't set well with us. being retired we thought, hey we have time, we can put this together right? Well, just as I had read in the other reviews, the instructions were written by someone not from our country who didn't have a full grasp of the English language!!! It took the better part of the day to assemble (we are 70 71) but when it came time to hoist it up into the brackets our son and daughter in law came to our rescue and ws a treamendous help. Our son had to make a couple corrections for our mis-assembly but when he left, it was installed and works great. I am glad we decided to stress ourselves out and save about $6000 We have used it a couple of times and I can see that having it up on our upper deck it gets a lot of wind from the lake, we plan to get a couple sticks of PC pipe and reinforce the outside edge so it stays in place better. If you decide to DIY make sure you have someone strong and mechanically inclined to install it.

This was a great value for the money when it comes to retractable awnings. And, the awning, once installed seems to work great. However, be prepared for some fits and stops when you are assembling. I would classify myself as a fairly advanced DIYer and it took me the better part of a day and a half to get this unit properly assembled, mounted and operational. I would say the two main issues with the assembly instructions and online videos are 1) a general vagueness with a process that actually requires a significant level of detail--like exactly which way to orientate brackets, the motor, etc. (they're written like just insert this into that and shazam! you're done... but that's not how it works in practice) and 2) the written instructions not matching the model of the unit we received.One other issue we had was the awning itself was two entirely different shades of brown--like one half was brown and one half was more maroon. Customer service was super helpful and sent out an entirely new replacement fabric within a week. I have found customer service very helpful.Anyway, this is the most economical and quality awning you will find. However, this is not a beginner's project. Either hire an awning expert or take your time and expect some frustration.
