This was much easier to install that I thought. Make sure you read, re-read, and re-re-read all the instructions before you begin so you know exactly how everything is attached to your water heater and chimney exhaust vent. Extra products I needed for the installation include: high-temp RTV silicone, PTFE gas line pipe thread tape (yellow), gas pipe thread sealant (blue), foil tape, electrical tape and wire nuts. Like the other reviewers have said, it is a pricey solution to the problem of having an orphaned water heater using the existing (now oversized) chimney but it is cheaper than having someone install a new chimney liner or replacing the water heater with a direct-vent unit.

The draft inducer is virtually silent when working. I still do get a back draft down the chimney when the draft inducer isn't working but at least there is no risk of carbon monoxide poisoning when the water heater is running. I'm hoping I can find a damper that will open when the draft inducer is working but will remain closed the rest of the time.

works as expected, but pricey. Would like to see others make a similar unit so cost would be more reasonable. good safety system for backdraft! they should sell that separate for peace of mind!
