The Chrisofix Malleable Finger Splint is recommended for fixation of the PIP and DIP joints following finger stress and strain, ligament injuries, certain fractures, or in cases of degenerative states/arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, gout, autoimmune diseases). The malleable Chrisofix long finger splint fixates the finger in an appropriate and desirable position while ensuring stability and comfort.
The "functional" fixation of the DIP+PIP Finger Splint allows for immobilization of the injured finger while allowing the normal function of the rest of the hand. The Premium version features a Corrugatech aluminum core embedded in cotton-laminated foam for an individualized fit to the affected finger. Velour-coated polyethylene foam outside with textile straps ensures the splint stays comfortable and stable during daily activities.
The ligaments surrounding the middle (PIP) and end (DIP) joints of the fingers are prone to shortening, so fixation in an anatomical position ( degrees, or a straight position) is paramount in avoiding shortening of the ligaments and the development of hard-to-treat contractures.
