Mission: Work with others to make a difference in the lives of extreme poor and vulnerable populations – with a focus on women, girls and children, through integrated and participatory approaches.
Results: Orphans Support & Child Protection:Muslim Response USA aims at empowering children, their families and communities to build a better future for themselves. We ensure orphan and vulnerable children’s access to education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation and food security. We educate parents and caregivers about their role in the care, protection, and development of children. Muslim Response USA ensures that the enrolled children and their families benefit from our seasonal interventions – including Ramadan Feeding and Qurbani/Udhiya ProgramsWater, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Muslim Response USA constructs water wells and installs water hand pumps in Africa and Asia for improving the disadvantaged communities’ access to safe and clean drinking water. By providing water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities in schools, Muslim Response USA helps poor students to maximize their potential by learning in a safer and healthier environment. This program is also contributing to the enrollment and retention of girls in schools, many of whom leave school after puberty due to the lack of latrines. Livelihoods and Food SecurityMuslim Response USA implements women and youth focused livelihood projects e. g. kitchen gardening, vocational training, livestock – distribution of goats/sheep, chicken rearing etc. We build the capacity of small farmers on modern agricultural practices and help them access good quality seeds, greener fertilizers and tools so farmers can grow more. Muslim Response USA facilitates the setting up of Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLA) for promoting group savings so that the farmers can expand their farms and buy quality seeds and equipment. We also provide emergency food assistance to vulnerable families so that they can survive and quickly bounce back in times of crisis. Ending Violence against Women and Girls: Muslim Response USA understands that violence or the threat of violence is used as a tool to control women’s lives; it prevents women from realizing their potential and locks them in a cycle of economic and social poverty. We raise awareness of women’s and girls’ rights, and support the enrollment and capacity building of voluntary ‘Change Makers’. Muslim Response USA works with partners to provide psychosocial support and emergency healthcare to survivors of gender based violence. Emergency Response and Preparedness: Muslim Response USA works with partners and stakeholders to respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations – both domestically and internationally. We provide food and non-food items including clothing, blankets, kitchen items, hygiene kits and supplies to the families affected by natural disasters, wars and violent conflicts. Muslim Response USA provides emergency healthcare, and water, sanitation and hygiene services (WASH) to displaced families. We also work with local hospitals, maternity homes and clinics that face supply shortages and provide lifesaving medicine and essential
