It's ok. I purchased and paid extra thinking it was made in the USA (description had indication it was made in the USA). It is actually made in Taiwan. Could have paid half as much for a similar made in Taiwan option.....

Saved me a few times....can definitely take some abuse as I'm a mechanic and use it quite often, from broken bolts to frozen studs

Puts a death grip on hard to remove studs. Out of 48 head studs in a flat head ford block only one broke.

Bought for a personal project, but is currently in my tool box at work (Kenworth Tech) for future use. Continued to "bite" at very high torque pressure- it broke some rusted studs off but did not slip. I usually use stud installers to remove broken studs when needed. This will damage the stud, but will get it out- not a problem during removal. Stud installers won't damage the stud, but can't grip this well. Perfect for broken exhaust manifold studs/bolts. Do not know if the cheaper version would have worked just as well- the price I paid for this version was worth the results I got.

It did exactly what I needed it to do unfortunately the stud broke even more so I had to go to a different solution to take it out but yes this is a fine tool to work with and I will keep it and use it again

Bought this because of the positive reviews. Didn't work for me at all. 0 for 5 broken exhaust studs. They were 8mm studs. It tightened up on the stud just fine nut then just ate the threads off of the stud until the tool just spun around. It may work on larger diameter studs.

Bought this to extract a bolt that had busted off in an intake manifold. Although there was 1/2" of the bolt protruding, this tool was unable to extract it. I used wrenches to tighten it and an impact to try and extract it but it would just spin off. I would have to say that if you can't turn the stud with visegrips then this tool won't either.

This tool works better than expected.. I remove a lot of broken bolts and wish I had one of these years ago. If the stud is sticking out far enough to grab with this tool, try it first.. sometimes it takes it out. If it doesn't, you are back where you started. But if it does, you won on this one. Results vary depending on engine block or head age and condition.
