I purchased these for emergencies only. I have used these before they work very well.

These work great in tight spaces. Recently had to replace an elbow at the water heater that was leaking. A very tight space under the bathroom sink. The compression style fittings would have been next to impossible to install. I did not want to purchase a crimp tool for the new fittings. Yes they can be tough to squeeze. But unlike the standard crimp style fittings, these can be undone.

Remodeled a bathroom with older pex coming out of the wall and no shutoff valves. Modified the plumbing and installed valves. I have used these previously without a problem. Everyone of the connections to the old pex leaked and ended up buying a pex tool and metal crimps to cure the problem. The older pex was gray with the red and blue lines on them.

To squeeze this together is VERY HARD and VERY DIFFICULT. What I found is if you shave down the inner edge, JUST enough to allow for the device to snap shut together, yet keep equal pressure around the tubing, it will work, snap shut, and hold properly your pipe. You will have to use a small rattail file, or I used a Dremel with a small file head and CAREFULLY shaved that edge. Image show the edge to shave down all across from one side to the otherI should make another brand with this modification and make a fortune.

PEX fittings are tough to close but they do the job.
