It's good and maybe it's thicker than mats advertised as 1/2-inch, but 5/8-inch is exaggerating a little. I even tried to measure it across a land instead of a groove and it's still less than 5/834;. I got it for a bedroll. It's pretty soft but even with nothing on top of it, it does cushion your bones on a hard surface. It weighs less than a firmer mat would and that's not nothing.

I adore this mat. I use it for yoga and pilates. While others need two and three mats, just this one serves the purpose.

I purchased this specifically for when I do situps. I have all hardwood floors and, well, situps hurt my rear! This pad is nice and thick and works perfectly for my purpose. IlI've also laid it out to use as a mat for when I color on the floor with my son. It protects our elbows, knees, and tummies nicely while we color. I can't speak to yoga use since I don't do yoga, but for situps it's great!

This was thicker than I wanted for a yoga mat but I ended up using it for my senior dog. He won't lie on dog beds but he will lie on this and it gives good cushioning for his arthritic hips.

I received the Crown Sporting yoga mat on time as promised and found the extra thickness worth while. The extra padding does help on cement flooring.
