installation was easy. few screws and back to cleaning. fit perfectly. 2nd one i bought from this store. so far so good. these go out all the time due to constant movement with internal shaft which is metal up against the plastic hole at top. constant rotation and spinning wears down. not sure why they don't use a bearing or lube to keep friction down and wear out. other than that. gears and all internal parts are normal just the shaft issue but that's with manufacturing and design

This is pretty easy to swap in for the old gearbox. If you're a little more brave, you can open it up and you'll find a stack of gears that are what usually break in these. Chances are, 1 or 2 of the 5 gears will be broken. I was able to use the parts from one new gearbox to repair both gearboxes. The gears are the same on the right amp; left sides, it's the housings that are different.

Have totally rebuilt my zodiac mx8 at least twice, as well as placing washers on drive shafts to maKe sure gears all mesh fully. This is the third side 'b' control motor I've had to replace in 6 months. They used to last at least a year, now just after a few months they're shot. I now clean my pool manually the old fashion way. 15 min and I'm done with a sparkling pool. The Zodiac M8 went in the trash.
