This book was ok for identifying groups and shapes and patterns at an early age but it didn't have the kind of mathy kindergartner was learning or expected to learn/practice at home. That was more traditional 1044 math, this book had very little of it, only some 34;look at the pictures and write the formula34; with 31, etc...

The book is good. The concepts introduced makes the kid think. It is repetitive though and not challenging enough after sometime.

I was looking for a workbook that would ensure that my child was learning what is required in kindergarten, and to fully prepare my child for 1st grade. This book met these goals and. . . . then some. Depending on your child, he or she will most likely need your help for at least the first few months, if not the year. It is unreasonable to expect an average 4-5 year-old to be able to read and understand all of the problems without your help. If you are not prepared to sit with your child and work through this book, then this is not the book for you. This is not a colouring book. My child completed the workbook in six months. She completed more than the suggested one page a day and worked on weekends. Her pre-school education was average. I began the workbook at the beginning of the school year, October. She easily worked her way through many of the initial problems; while with others, I was required to stop, teach and or explain the problem. The workbook was consistent with all concepts and problems being taught in her kindergarten class. Since each set of math problems repeat every day, and they became progressively harder, I was able to ascertain how well she understood or had mastered the concepts. The constant repetition of the math problems was key to me being satisfied that she had mastered the concept. Her ability to evaluate and read the questions and answer them quickly, was when I knew. . . . she knew! This workbook help place my child amongst the top four kids in the class, many of whom began kindergarten at 6. She started at 4 and turned 5 in early December. I have already purchased 180 days of Math for 1st grade, which we will start towards the end of Kindergarten.

I love how it has a page a day, and it gradually gets harder but not so much where kid gets confused. Wonderful.

This workbook is a great resource for small group instruction or centers. In my class, we complete 2 pages each day during centers. I can differentiate instruction by having students complete pages based on their learning level. I love that it covers a variety of national standards and exposes students to new math concepts daily. Because this workbook follows the same daily pattern, my kindergartners were able to recognize and read many of the directions independently after 2 months. The pacing is perfect, as it gradually increases the level of rigor each week. Also, it is very beneficial to use the tracking sheets, which outline student strengths and weaknesses, during parent conferences. I would definitely recommend this workbook for small group instruction or for parents wanting extra practice for their kids at home.

Great 34;one34; workbook that has a daily activity page that challenges multiple critical thinking processes for your kid...really love the simple, yet, thoughtful problems. I believe that apart from math, this book also helps in comprehension as the child has to understand what the problem is asking. If your kid is 4 and over, get this. Also, my kid's school uses this for daily 34;drills34;

Not what I thought. From the cover it looked like math activities. I did not realize it was a book of work sheets.

This book is good for a student to do with help. It includes lots of written instruction, which is hard for a student who is in kindergarten and is learning to read. Not for independent work or independent review.

I was kind of conflicted on whether or not to purchase this by the reviews some love that some said it was too hard for a kindergartner. I have a kindergartner that is not reading yet all the way and had no problems with him doing most of it on his own it short not to long perfect for just an add-on or an extra practice, I am A homeschooling mom and I would not use this for an entire math curriculum but love it as an add-on and it's fun for him he enjoys doing this!I would even say a preschooler could do this with the help of of course a parent!
