My original AO Smith motor that came with the pool lasted 8-9 years, after that I replaced it with the Century version which was supposed to be the same motor with a new label (Century bought AO Smith), I think it even said AO Smith somewhere on the label. That one made it about two years before the bearings failed. I thought maybe I got a bad one so ordered another one (this one only says Century and made in Thailand) and this one made it 14 months before it started getting hot and thermal shutoff even though everything spins freely. Junk!

I bought this pool pump motor after the bearings started going out on the original Pentair motor. I was hoping for an exact match to make swapping it out easier since I've never replaced a pump motor. I found a Youtube video showing how to do it using this same motor and it worked out GREAT. I am so happy with this motor. It is much quieter than the old one and hopefully it will last just as long - approx 6 years.

Purchased the motor on June 9, 2023. Installed 3 days later. Would not run today, September 13, 2024. This is the third motor we have installed for our pool pump and this one has lasted just a few months beyond the 1 year warranty period. The first motor, which was made in the USA, lasted about 6 years. Our pool pump runs 365 days a year usually on between 7 and 12 hours a day depending upon the season.

This worked great - the only drawback is that the seals are not included and the seal kit’s didn’t include one important seal: R0479400 Pump Shaft Seal. We put it back together with the old seal to only have to redo it as it started leaking. This is an issue with this product-it works. Just make sure you have all of the replacement seals.

Works as expected. Last motor lasted 8 plus years. That's much more life than expected for a pool pump motor. So I replaced old motor with identical model.

This pump motor is working but the bearings in the motor are squealing, tried a borrowed motor and was fine, just waiting now for this one to fail, so I can buy something different. Not worth the time.
